05 M81 and M82

strongMessier 81 and M82, NGC 3031 and NGC 3034, Bodersquo;s and Cigar galaxies /strongbr/A great target for me to test my patience in imaging I wanted to see if I could capture any of the Integrated Flux Nebulosity around this target. It requires a good deal of total integration time which means I can only image ONE target a night. Like most who are new to astro imaging, I wanted to get as many targets a night as I can.br/M81 is a grand design spiral galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major. M82 is a starburst galaxy. It is thought that the starburst action in M82 may have been triggered by its proximity to M81.br/The MOST intriguing thing about M81 was learning about the Integrated Flux Nebulosity. I had no idea this existed lsquo;til I started imaging. I heard it mentioned so I decided to try and capture it. It is faint in this image but I will add more integration timebr/to see if I can bring the IFN closer to the forefront. Amazing that the combined star light of our milky way is responsible for the IFN seen around M81 and M82.br/strongAcquisition details ndash; /strongbr/Imaged February 17th and March 5th , 2021br/Imaged from my backyard in Sarnia, Ontario using my WO GT 81mm rig and Lpro filterbr/90X180 sec lights + 25 each of darks, flats and dark flats
