strongMessier 97, M97, NGC 3587, Owl Nebula /strongbr/strongPlanetary nebula /strongbr/A small for my rig planetary nebula but is a very nice target due to itrsquo;s proximity to M108, the surfboard galaxy. Located in the constellation Ursa Major at a distance of approximately 2030 ly from Earth. Like all planetary nebula, this is the result of a star shedding its outer shells of gas into the surrounding space. I found it to be a difficult target visually and only ever could make out one of the ldquo;eyesrdquo; of the owl face.
