Deep Milky Way Pano

Deep Milky Way Pano

ISO 6400, 85mm, f/1.8, 20 seconds - 4 exposures stitched into a vertical panoramabr/ Canon 6D (modified)br/ Canon 85mm f/1.8 Lensbr/ Location: Camp Billy Joe (Okie-Tex Star Party), Kenton, OKbr/ Captured October 5, 2021br/ With this shot I decided to aim an 85mm prime lens at the sections of the milky way we could see just above the horizon of the mesa in the distance. If you look closely on the mesa's silhouette on the bottom, to the left you'll see a small cross. The goal was to somehow include the cross somewhere in the shot. After looking closer at what I'd captured, I realized this was perhaps my deepest image of the Milky Way yet, and that was due to how dark the skies were such that 20 seconds was all I needed. Look closer, at the bottom of the plane of the Milky Way, and you'll see the Cat's Paw nebula, a nebula that we normally don't see in latitudes higher than 39.
