06 Messier 97
Messier 97 the Owl Nebula. Planetary nebulae can be a challenge to observe because of their relatively small sizes. To image them presents an even bigger challenge, unless a large long-focal-length telescope is available. In this case, a modest Borg E101 apo operating with a tele-extender to yield f/8.8 was employed. Ten 10-minute guided exposures were taken with a modified Canon XSi DSLR at ISO 1600, combined in ImagesPlus. The picture was taken from Sky Trails Observatory in Summerland, B.C.
