The California Nebula captures the emission nebula in Perseus. The extent of this large, isolated nebula is amazing in itself, particularly since it is energized by a single star in the field just below it. The image was captured on 2016 February 27 at Sky Trails Observatory in Summerland, B.C. A Borg 101E apo operating in f/4.2 astrograph mode fed a modified Canon SXi DSLR using an IDAS V3 filter and ISO 1600. Ten 10-minute guided subs were combined in ImagesPlus with Dark frames.
