The Pleiades Open Star Cluster
This is my favourite open star cluster. Its substantial size makes it easy to observe through binoculars or a low-power telescope set-up, and its sparkling, blue-white stars fill me with joy whenever I find an opportunity to view them. In the words of the Victorian poet, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Many a night I saw the Pleiads, rising through the mellow shade, Glitter like a swarm of fire-flies, dangled on a silver braid.
