The Great Hercules Cluster (M13)

The Great Hercules Cluster (M13)

strongThe Great Hercules Cluster (M13)/strongbr/M13 - the Great Hercules Cluster - is one of the most beautiful star clusters visible in the Northern Hemisphere and I took this image of it from my backyard in London ON. This is one of my favourite deep sky objects to view visually, and is probably one of the very earliest objects I ever looked at when I started out in this hobby almost two decades ago, so I am thrilled to finally have a good photo of it to share with others! If you look close enough you can also find another object in the photo - the spiral galaxy NGC 6207! This image is a stack of 184 x 30s subs (1h 32min total) gathered using a Skywatcher Evostar 72ed with 1.0 field flattener on a Star Adventurer 2i mount with a Canon t6i (stock) DSLR camera at iso 1600. The camera was controlled with an intervelometer. The individual subs were stacked in Deep Sky Stacker and the final image was stretched and processed in Pixinsight.
