The Andromeda Galaxy (M31)

The Andromeda Galaxy (M31)

strongThe Andromeda Galaxy (M31)/strongbr/The Andromeda Galaxy from my backyard in London ON. This is one of my most favourite deep sky objects. I remember being blown away the first time I viewed this galaxy visually. I found it unreal that this little smudge contained billions of stars and planets. I love how you can see so much detail in Andromeda - from the bright regions to the dark dust lanes and bright galactic core. This image is a stack of 90 x 90s subs (2h 15 min total) gathered using a Skywatcher Evostar 72ed with 1.0 field flattener on a Star Adventurer 2i mount with a Canon t6i (stock) DSLR camera at iso 1600. The equipment was guided using a ZWO 30mm f/4 guidescope with asi120mm mini guide cam. The camera was controlled with NINA, and guiding with phd2. Individual subs were stacked in Deep Sky Stacker and the final image was stretched and processed in Pixinsight.
