12 Dark nebulae - Barnard 92 and 93

12 Dark nebulae - Barnard 92 and 93

Date: Imaged 8 July 2019 (3:46 am) br/Location: Miscouche, PEI br/Equipment: Orion 80mm f6 ED-triplet refractor/ ZWO ASI183MC CMOS camera with UV/IR cut filter; prime focus, unguided; gain 320, 45 sec exposure/EQ6-R mount. br/Processing: 67 subs, 20 darks, and 20 flats were captured as RAW16/FITS images. All images were debayered with PIPP since DeepSkyStacker does not properly debayer RAW16/FITS images. Debayered images were saved as TIF images, which were then stacked with DeepSkyStacker without any other adjustments to the stacked image. Photoshop CS2 was used to adjust levels, curves (stretching data) and color balance/saturation, as well as for noise reduction. Microsoft Photo was used to tweak clarity, contrast, highlights, shadows, and exposure of the final jpg image. br/Comments: The centre area of the Small Sagittarius Star Cloud (Messier 24) contains two open clusters (NGC 6603, bottom left corner; Cr 469, upper middle) and two dark nebulae (Barnard 92, upper right corner; Barnard 93, top middle). The interstellar dust clouds that comprise Barnard 92 and Barnard 93 contrast sharply with the densely populated surrounding star field.
