01-Sunset-Kitt-Peak-2375-sb

In November, 2016 my wife and I attended an astronomy workshop at Kitt Peak National Observatory, near Tucson Arizona. Arriving just before sunset there were brief introductions and then a short hike out to a west-facing rise to watch the sun go down and get us all prepped for the unaided-eye, binocular and telescope observing we would be enjoying once the sky was dark enough. Kitt Peak has the most diverse collection of astronomical instruments in the world, and the mountaintop is littered with all manner of domes. The one in the picture was open in preparation of an night of observing and it seemed fitting to include it in the shot of the sunset.br/ Detail:br/ Date: November 30, 2016br/ Camera: Nikon D810br/ Lens: Nikkor 14-24mm f2.8 lens at 14mmbr/ Settings: 1/500 second, f9.0, ISO 1000br/ Location: Kitt Peak National Observatory, Tohono Orsquo;odham Nation Reservation, Arizona, U.S.A.
