Melotte 15

Melotte 15

Melotte 15 (also known as Collinder 26) is an open cluster embedded within IC1805 (The Heart Nebula). And it's interesting to note that the radiation from this cluster of stars is the primary source of the ionization of the Hydrogen gas in the nebula, as well as the primary driver of the shape of the nebula itself by way of its solar winds.
Melotte 15 is located 7500 ly away from earth and appears in the the constellation Cassiopeia.
This image was taken on the nights of December 12th and 14th, 2022. It's made up of 64 180s sub exposures for a total integration of 3h12m. It was taken using a ZWO ASI2400 MC Pro through an 11" Celestron EdgeHD at F7 atop an iOptron CEM70
This image was taken from my backyard observatory, just outside of the the village of White Lake, Ontario.
