Aurora

Aurora

On March 23, 2023, our KW-RASC group email received a note at around 10:00pm that the Northern Lights are starting to become visible. I walked to the end of the street, which has a clear view of the North and saw clouds on the horizon, which for this winter was not a surprise. But, patiently, I waited for the clouds to pass. Then shockingly, I started to see bands of light start forming from the horizon and start stretching all the way to the Big Dipper! After a while the light started to ‘dance’ and flow through the sky. I had only brought my cell phone and started taking pictures. I was amazed at what the Pixel 6 was able to take. It was getting cool, so went back home. I got my Canon RP and unfortunately the aurora had decreased and I was not able to get any nice pictures with my RP. We were very fortunate to see the Northern Lights since we are in Southwestern Ontario.
