Location: dock at my residence near Elgin ONbr/Time and date: 2014-08-31 2119EDTbr/Equipment and settings: Canon 60Da at ISO6400, Canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4 lens at 10mm f/3.5, tripod-mounted, 20s exposurebr/Planning: virtually none, noticed the distant thunderstorms with lightning under an otherwise clear sky and hoped to catch some lightning under the stars.br/Problems: there was never any visible cloud-to-cloud or cloud-to-ground lightning but the in-cloud was quite effective anyway.br/Ambience: the very low thunder from the storms added to the drama; was followed by a nice night of observing.
