Geminids2017

Location: my observing site on the cliff overlooking the lake near my residence near Elgin ONbr/Time and date: 2017-12-14 0246UT to 0422UTbr/Equipment and settings: Canon 60Da at ISO3200, Bower 8mm f/4 fisheye, 4 x 60s exposures manually aligned and stacked in Photoshop CS4br/Planning: intended to use both the Canon 30D with 8mm fisheye with cable release and 60Da with 10-22mm zoom and intervalometerbr/Problems: cable release failed so was able to use only one camera with the intervalometer, naturally chose the 60Da; both lenses are relatively slow so each lens only produced one nice meteor and several fainter ones that could be stackedbr/Ambience: cold and breezy with patchy thin cirrus sweeping through during almost the whole night, started mainly in the south but gradually moved north; tried watching for about 30min and estimated about 1 meteor per minute. Interestingly the best two meteors of the period were both sporadics.
