07A Mars

07A Mars

I took the raw pictures for this image on the evening of September 29, 2020 from the front deck of my house in Metro Vancouver. With the autumn rainy season beginning to take hold, I was anxious to capture what might be my last opportunity to photograph Mars as it neared opposition. I had time that evening only to set the telescope up on my east-facing front deck. Fortunately, at magnitude -2.5, Mars was bright enough to overcome the substantial suburban light pollution. Capture details: Prime focus image taken with a ZWO ISA 120 MC planetary camera, gain 0, exposure time 13 msec. Post-processing: ZWO images debayered in PIPP and then stacked and sharpened in Registax.
