Comet 67p (Churyumov-Gerasimenko) and NGC 2266

Comet 67p (Churyumov-Gerasimenko) and NGC 2266

strongComet 67p (Churyumov-Gerasimenko) and NGC 2266/strongbr/Comet 67p (Churyumov-Gerasimenko) as seen from my backyard in London ON. Comets hold a special place in my heart as I think my first real WOW astronomy moment was looking up at Comet Hale-Bopp with my dad in the backyard as a kid. This is my first time processing a comet photo, and it was difficult! This image is a combo of two stacks from the same data (one where the comet is stacked correctly and let the stars trail, and another where the stars stack properly and the comet trails) which were then combined into one image in photoshop. I decided to go for this target since it is relatively bright right now for imaging (mag 10) and happend to be passing by a star (Mebsuta in Gemini) that would allow me to find it easily. I also framed up the image to include open cluster NGC 2266. This image is made from 100 x 60s subs (1h 40min) gathered using a Skywatcher Evostar 72ed with 1.0 field flattener on a Star Adventurer 2i mount with a Canon t6i (stock) DSLR camera at iso 1600. The equipment was guided using a ZWO 30mm f/4 guidescope with asi120mm mini guide cam. The camera was controlled with NINA, and guiding with phd2. Individual subs were stacked in Deep Sky Stacker into two different stacks (one with the comet clear and another with the stars sharp) and the final composite was stretched and combined in Photoshop.
