03 Hawaiian Half Moon

03 Hawaiian Half Moon

I was taken aback when I first saw a half moon rising in Hawaii. It looked like it was on its side. I eventually realized that people back home, at about 50 o of latitude vs. my 20 o of latitude would be standing at roughly 30ooff-vertical from my Hawaiian perspective. This image is a composite of two separate exposures (with the moon taken at 04:35 on Jan 28, 2019) since the dynamic range was far too great for me to capture the silhouetted trees along with the shape of the bright half-moon in the same exposure. Capture details (for moon): Canon 5D camera on a fixed mount, 24-105 mm zoom lens set to 24 mm, aperture 5.6, exposure time 1 sec, ISO 200.
