2020 Dec 26, 17:15 Jupiter and Saturn br/Pertinent details: 2020 12 26, 17:15, Haldimand Conservation Area, Haldimand, ONbr/Interesting details: This is the third of the series all taken at 55mm for a direct comparison of the movement of Saturn and Jupiter as they move through the Conjunction on the 21st of December 2020. In typical Astronomical event fashion there was a solid bank of clouds from December 18th onwards in my area. I was unable to see the Conjunction and have been unable to see it for many days after. After consulting with the Skycharts and the weather forecast I came to the conclusion that I needed to go find some clearish skies before Jupiter and Saturn are too far apart and too close to the horizon for me to be able to image them. I drove for 3 hours to where the weather suggested it would be clear. I arrived just after sunset to a clear sky overhead, but with a nasty cloud bank on the horizon. As the light level dropped to a level where I could start to see Jupiter a cloud bank rushed in. Of 16 attempts to image both planets, I did manage to image both Saturn and Jupiter between the clouds on 5 of the images before the clouds completely obscured the sky. The winds coming in off Lake Ontario kept shaking the camera and the seeing was not great. It was a challenge to meet he sweet spot of the conditions. I hung a bag of rocks as weight on my tripod to keep it more stable. I was very happy with this cloudy image, as it does confirm that Saturn and the brighter Jupiter have moved relative to each other and have appeared to switch order, with Jupiter now above and to the left of Saturn. If you compare their separation to the crescent moon from the previous image, Jupiter and Saturn appear to be about 1.1x the angular distance apart but on opposite sides as before. Taken 5 days after the Conjunction, and nine days after the previous image in the series.br/Image detail: Canon T7i f13 55mm 200iso 2sec
