04 Spiral Galaxy NGC 4565 Needle

A Sideways Perspectivebr/ NGC 4565 - Located in the constellation Coma Berenices, this spiral galaxy appears like a bright needle against the dark background sky as it is orientated edge-on from our perspective. During quot;galaxy seasonquot;, I had purchased a new Celestron EdgeHD 8quot; reflector and was anxious to see if I could reveal fine detail in a bright galaxy. After searching through a list of galaxies that were high enough in the sky, I came across the Needle Galaxy which captured my attention. If you look closely, you can see fine dust along the edge of the bright core, even though it is approximately 40 million light years away!br/ Acquisition Details: EQ6-R Pro, Celestron EdgeHD 8quot;, ASIAIR-Pro, ASI2600MC Pro, Astronmik UV-IR Block L-3 filter, Bortle 5 skies, 180 second subs at Gain 100. Integration time: 3 hours 42 minutes
