09 Constellation Orion
January 2020. Norman Wells, NT. Orion always catches my attention and I was lucky to capture some subtle aurora along with this shot of the hunter. This shot was taken when Betelgeuse was dimmer than usual. To be honest as I shot this I was hoping for a supernova and the opportunity to witness the birth of a black hole - my hypothesis was the unusual dimming was due to the star ejecting matter as it began to destabilize. Shot with Sony A7iii, Sigma 24MM Art. F2.8, ISO 6400, 13 Second Exposure.
