M3 – globular star cluster
Messier 3 is another wonderful example of an ancient globular star cluster. I really am beginning to enjoy processing these. They look like multi-coloured jewels just floating high in the sky. One of the most unique facts about globular clusters is the fact that it appears that globular clusters are the only place where there is no dark matter. Measurements of their mass, and calculations of the gravity needed to keep them round, all add up with no need for dark matter to explain their existence. Just one of a million mysteries that keep me looking up.
