A nice morning on May 8, 2016 afforded me a chance to get a reference image, in preparation for the next day's Transit of Mercury. In this image, the Sun is 1.5 degrees above the horizon. As would have been necessary for the transit, it's a composite image with the solar photo Baader filtered. Alas, low clouds the next day foiled the plan for the transit.
