(Young) crescent Moon

(Young) crescent Moon

This was my first attempt to observe a young Moon less than 24 hours after new Moon, and I got a photo as well! I simulated the scene in Sky Safari, so I knew where to look, and the slim crescent appeared about 30 minutes after sunset. In the photo are the iconic 3 smokestacks from Tufts Cove power plant, a Dartmouth landmark. Frames exposed before visual sighting actually detect the crescent, but the images are not satisfying to contemplate.br/ br/ Location: Dartmouth Common, Dartmouth, NS Date amp; Time: 2008-04-06 ndash; 8:21 PM ADTbr/ Camera: Canon PowerShot G3 on tripod ISO: 200br/ Lens: built-in 7.2ndash;28.8 @ 28.8 mm Aperture amp; Exposure: f/3.2, 1/10 s
