It was a superb mornng, starting with a little nervousness with the clouds but they added to the texture of the dawn sky. A large group of observers had set up, all establishing little insular cliques. I tried engaging a few people but was ignored. Very peculiar. But a few novices were out and they were friendlier. A local resident came down from their house to see what we were doing, unaware of the eclipse. He was delighted and we spoke for a while.
