Jupiter Stacked

Jupiter Stacked

A photo of Jupiter based on one of a set of 34 AVIs taken every four minutes the night of January 12th 2013. Each one was processed and then the 34 resulting images were rotated and combined into a gif showing the rotation of Jupiter over a four hour period including Io zooming behind the planet. Other photos in the set show the red spot in the centre, but this one is sharpest of these featuring the red spot. Further processing brought out a lot more detail, but also brought out artifacts (strange lines) so I stopped processing at this point.br/br/Jupiter January 12th 2013, 10:10 PMbr/Backyard EOS, 5Xbr/Canon T1i and Tele Vue 2X Powermate br/Sky Watcher 16 inch Dobsonianbr/22 second AVI, 1/250 second shots, ISO 1600br/Ran Castrator to crop images then stacked and wavelet processing in Registax.
