Sunspots

Sunspots

This is one of my favorite images that I have taken this year. It shows the sun as seen through a 600mm refractor and a thousand oaks solar film. This was surprisingly a very difficult image to capture. Finding the sun was a challenge, and I didn't expect to have any trouble with that at all (small aperture, manual mount and I couldn't look directly at the sun). Processing this image was also a unique challenge, as it involves a different process from what I was used to, but I am happy that I learned a lot through this experience. I am now much more excited about solar astrophotography, and I am very eager to try new techniques and learn more about the nuances of the imaging process.
