This image shows a waning gibbous moon that I was able to image in my backyard. Craters are visible near the sunlit border. This is one of the first nice-looking images that I have taken regarding astrophotography, and it is the first image that I have ever shared with anyone. At that time, the only equipment I had was my smartphone, as I borrowed the dobsonian from RASC (which was also used for many of the images here). The results of this image showed me that you don’t need expensive, complicated equipment to get started with astrophotography, as there are many targets that can easily be captured using a standard smartphone and telescope.
