Jupiter-(Stacking)

Jupiter-(Stacking)

  • Here we can see an image of Jupiter and Europa. Although this image did not require much preparation (as Jupiter is very bright and visible all night), it was my first test in stacking an image of a planet. I learned to take videos of Jupiter as it drifts across the frame of my DSLR. I also learned how to use PIPP, Autostakkert, and Registax to stack the frames into a nice detailed image of Jupiter. This led me into the rabbit hole of astrophotography processing, and it showed me how much more there is to learn. Unfortunately, I was unable to capture the red spot on Jupiter (wasn’t the right time), but we can clearly see the different gaseous bands in this image. Furthermore, a dim Europa can be seen to the right of the planet, which was a nice surprise in my opinion.
