16-Comet-Hale-Bopp-sb

One evening in March, 1997 I was driving up Trafalgar road in Oakville, Ontario on my way to home northwest of Milton, Ontario. I noticed this object in the sky straight ahead, but well above the horizon. It was little more than a smudge, barely visible in the urban traffic, but I recognized it instantly for what it was. Other than a brief look at Comet Kahoutek in 1973 I had never seen a comet before, but was well aware of Comet Hale Bopp and anxious to see it. I pulled over to have a quick look from the side of the road, then hurried home to try and take some pictures of it. I set my camera up on the tripod right outside the front door to the house and took a number of exposures.br/ Detail:br/ Date: March, 1997br/ Camera: Nikkormat Ftnbr/ Lens: Nikkor 85mm f1.8br/ Settings: Exposure data not recordedbr/ Location: Rural Milton, Ontario
