13-Planet-Movemen-Venus-Transit-Montage-sb

Having captured the previous Venus transit on film in 2004, I was anxious to also shoot the one in June of 2012, using a digital camera. So, with a few friends, some snacks, a small refractor with a solar filter, and a couple of pairs of eclipse glasses, we settled in to enjoy the event. The image shows two different exposures taken 27 minutes apart, and illustrates the movement of Venus across the solar disk.br/ Detail:br/ Image 1br/ Date: June 5, 2012 (approximately 6:15 local time)br/ Camera: Nikon D300br/ Settings: 1/1000 second, f6.8, ISO 1000br/ Lens: Tele Vue Pronto (480mm, f6.8) at prime focus with a 1.4x teleconverter and a Thousand Oaks Solar Filterbr/ Location: Milton, Ontariobr/ Image 2br/ Date: June 5, 2012 (approximately 6:42 local time)br/ Camera: Nikon D300br/ Settings: 1/500 second, f6.8, ISO 400br/ Lens: Tele Vue Pronto (480mm, f6.8) at prime focus with a 1.4x teleconverter and a Thousand Oaks Solar Filterbr/ Location: Milton, Ontario
