Comet Hyakutake
Comet Hyakutake as it passed near the north pole of the Earth. This was the most impressive comet display I have ever seen, the comet stretching about 60 degrees from Ursa Major to Coma Berenices. It was a VERY cold night but none of us noticed - this was an incredible sight, no photos do it justice. The two bright stars are the last two in the handle of the Big Dipper. M101 is visible as a small blob in this image, next to the disconnection event in the tail.br/ Details:br/ 1996 March 24, time not recordedbr/ Wilson Coulee Observatory, Albertabr/ Olympus OM-1, 50mm f2.8 lensbr/ Hypered Kodak Tech Pan, 10 min at f2.8
