Mercury Transit, 2016-05-09
Another image of the Mercury transit, this time from a single snapshot, as opposed to stacking frames from a movie. Go ahead, zoom in -- lots of resolution to spare!
In this image north is up, and other than Mercury (the dark, round dot on the Sun's disk) you can see some sunspots near the centre and upper-left of the Sun's disk, as well as some bright squiggles at far right.
Taken from Darmouth, NS, from my workplace at lunch ;-)
I used my 7DII DSLR to take this snapshot, which I mounted on an 8" reflector on a CGE Pro mount. Processing was done in Images Plus and Paint Shop Pro.
