Title: Total Eclipse of a Supermoon
Date: Imaged 27 September 2015 (10:07-11:47 pm)
Location: Halifax, NS
Equipment: Tripod-mounted f/5 Orion ST80A refractor with 32mm Plossl eyepiece; afocal images captured with a Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS on Auto setting.
Processing: Exposures at different stages of the eclipse were captured in JPEG format. The montage of 4 different images from different stages of the lunar eclipse were created with Microsoft PowerPoint, then saved as a TIFF file and converted back to a JPEG image. Microsoft Photo was used to tweak clarity, contrast, highlights, shadows, and exposure of the final image.
Comments: This is one of my earliest astrophotographs captured with a simple point-and-shoot camera held in front of the eyepiece with a digiscoping adapter. I used a 2 second delay to minimize camera shake after pressing the shutter release.
