January 29, 2017, Port Mouton
85 30-second raw photos, 20 darks, flats, and dark flats
Canon T1i, 8″ Sky-Watcher Newtonian Astrograph, CGEM mount, Tele Vue coma corrector, Sky-Watcher 80-mm ED and Orion Starshooter with PhD for guiding.
Each photo stacked and processed initially in Images Plus. Stretched in IP Digital Development. Colour balanced and background neutralized. Cropped.
This is another favourite target for binoculars and I have several photos of it that I use in my flat-screen planetarium shows that I put on in theatres around Nova Scotia. Novice binocular users are always impressed by this sight and I think the photograph captures it well. I use the stars in Gemini as my guideposts for finding both M35 and M44.
