Canon T3i (modified), 8″ Sky-Watcher Newtonian Astrograph, CGEM mount, Tele Vue coma corrector, Sky Watcher 80-mm ED and Orion Starshooter with PhD for guiding.
121 60-second raw photos and 20 darks,
Stacked and processed in Images Plus, stretched in IP Digital Development, Colour Balance and background neutralized, followed by some linear stretching using a red color mask.
Barnard 168 is the dark lane that surrounds the Cocoon Nebula (IC 5146) and then stretches to the west giving the appearance that the nebula is clearing a path through the stars. It is this juxtaposition of the dark nebula and the emission nebula that makes this such an interesting object to photograph and view.
