Star Trails

This was taken at the Cheticamp campsite of Cape Breton Highlands National Park at 21:42 on August 29, 2022. br/ I had never taken a star trail image before with my digital camera and I encountered several challenges.br/ First of all, I discovered that in Manual mode, my camera would not allow an exposure of over 30quot;br/ I tried Bulb mode but could not figure out how to set a prolongued time.br/ The internet was no help, and in sheer desperation, I resorted to reading the camera manual.br/ It turns out there was a setting called Bulb Timer buried deep in the menu system.br/ Because it darkened fairly late, I would wait until the activity in the campground died down, then trigger the shutter via bluetooth from my iPhone and go to bedbr/ The alarm was set to wake up later and retrieve my camera lest it get stolen.br/ I tried a shot of just over an hour exposure the first night there, but it produced a white out frame because I'd set the ISO too high.br/ Eventually I got this frame, which was tweaked a bit for contrast in Adobe Photoshop Express.br/ It was just what I wanted because the trees were lit from the light from the park maintenance depot near my campground.br/ Amazingly, there was zero wind, as seen by the lack of blur in the trees, but a few jets passed overhead during the exposure.br/ The final settings were f6.3, ISO 400, 3645quot; exposure at 24 mm focal length.
