10 Circling the Pole

Title: Circling the Pole
Date: Imaged 26 July 2019 (2:02-3:45 am)
Location: Halifax, NS
Equipment: Tripod-mounted Canon Rebel T3 DSLR at ISO-400 with kit lens at 18mm f/3.5; 30 sec exposures.
Processing: A series of 190 exposures (30 sec each) were captured using the T3 DSLR’s continuous setting. RAW16 format was converted to TIFF format using Canon’s Digital Photo Professional. Star trails were generated using version 2.3 of Startrails by Achim Schaller. Microsoft Photo was used to tweak color, clarity, contrast, highlights, shadows, and exposure of the final jpg image.
Comments: This image shows the rotation of stars around the north celestial pole over a period of 90 minutes. Note that Polaris, the North Star, near the centre of the image shows some trailing, indicating that Polaris located a short distance from the north celestial pole.
