Title: Mercury at Sunset

Location: Halifax, NS
Equipment: Tripod-mounted Canon Rebel T3 DSLR at ISO-800 with kit lens at 55mm f/5.6; 1 sec exposure.
Processing: A single 1 sec exposure was captured in RAW16 format and converted to TIFF format using Canon’s Digital Photo Professional. Photoshop CS2 was used for noise reduction. Microsoft Photo was used to tweak color, clarity, contrast, highlights, shadows, and exposure of the final jpg image.
Comments: In this image, Mercury is located just above the horizon. Mars is to the left of and very close to Mercury but is obscured by Mercury’s brightness. Above and to the right of Mercury lie Castor and Pollux.
