The Seven Sisters

M45, the Pleiades – open star cluster
The Pleiades is one of the most stunning sights in the night sky even with the naked eye. My gaze can’t help but wander to it every time I’m outside observing. Through even a small a telescope it just explodes. Photographing it brings out even more wonder as the swirling nebula that surrounds it reveals more and more detail as it reflects light from the stars. During this night, I was having a little difficulty with adjusting my field flattener properly so the stars on the periphery are slightly oblong. I can’t wait for it to come back next winter so I can do it the justice it deserves.
