02-Blue Lake Small Aurora show 150624-52-7-2

Blue Lake is an excellent location for night sky imaging. It is close by, in the mountains and suffers only slightly from light pollution. At our 49th parallel location it takes an intense magnetic storm to notice aurora. Deep dark sky vision from say 25 minutes of blackness shows some aurora but the camera sensor picks up more. Since I know the aurora is there but it does not appear bright due to the limitations of my eyesight I don't feel that I am misrepresenting this natural phenomenon by emphasizing it in post processing. In this image I can easily identify Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, and Cassiopeia.
